Test development standards
Government entities who adopt an examination to assess competency for public protection regulation must select an examination that is valid, reliable and legally defensible. "Development and Validation of the National Home Inspector Examination" explains the processes involved in high-stakes test development.

EBPHI adheres to the highest accepted standards for development of the National Home Inspector Examination. Regulators will want to familiarize themselves with these standards, promulgated by standard-setting organizations such as:

• National Council for Certifying Agencies (NCCA): Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs
• American Education Research Association (AERA): Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing
• Council on Licensing, Enforcement And Regulation (CLEAR): Several relevant Briefs on test development standards, examination evaluation, etc.
