Reimbursement for Veterans
Updated 9/5/2007

The federal Department of Veterans' Affairs has approved reimbursement to military veterans for the cost of the National Home Inspector Examination. See their website at www.va.gov for information, or to obtain reimbursement take the following steps:

Send the following to your local VA Regional Processing Office:

  • A note requesting reimbursement, or VA Form 21-4138 (Statement in Support of Claim).
  • An Application for Benefits (VA Form 22-1990 or VA Form 22-5490 as appropriate). These can be obtained at a local, state or federal VA office.
  • A copy of the test results (given to test-takers at the test site).
  • The name of the test taken: National Home Inspector Examination.
  • The name and address of the organization issuing the license or certification. (Not necessarily the organization that administered the test. EBPHI does not issue either a license or certification; it would be the relevant state agency in the case of a license.)
  • The date you took the test.
  • The cost of the test.
  • The following statement: "I authorize release of my test information to VA."
